Fuel Gauge

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Nissan Pathfinder. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION: If the vehicle runs out of fuel, the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) may come on. Refuel as soon as possible. After a few driving trips, the lamp should turn off.

The fuel gauge indicates the approximate fuel level in the fuel tank. See Fig 1. The gauge may move slightly during braking, turning, accelerating or going up or down hills. The gauge needle is designed to move to the "E" (Empty) position when the ignition key is turned to "OFF" position.

Refill the tank before the needle reaches "E", there is a small reserve of fuel when the needle reaches "E". The fuel filler lid is on the drivers side of the vehicle. The fuel gauge is regulated by a variable ground signal supplied to combination meter terminal No. 17 for the fuel gauge, from terminal No. 3 of the fuel level sensor unit, through terminal No. 2 of the fuel level sensor unit and through body grounds "B11", "B22" and "D210".
