Removal and Installation of Rear Oil Seal: Installation

  1. Remove oil liquid gasket on mating surface of cylinder block and oil pan using a scraper.
  2. Apply liquid gasket to rear oil seal retainer using Tool as shown.
    • Tool number: WS39930000 (-) 
    • Use Genuine Silicone RTV Sealant or equivalent. Refer to RECOMMENDED CHEMICAL PRODUCTS AND SEALANTS .
    • Assembly should be completed within 5 minutes after coating.

  3. Install rear oil seal retainer to cylinder block.
    • Rear oil seal retainer bolts: 8.8 N.m (0.89 kg-m, 77 in-lb) 
  4. Install the drive plate.
    • Install the drive plate and reinforce plate in the direction as shown.
    • Align dowel pins of crankshaft rear and drive plate with pin holes of each part.
    • Secure the crankshaft using Tool.
      • Tool number: KV10117700 (J-44716) 
    • Tighten the drive plate bolts in one or two steps.
      • Drive plate bolts: 88 N.m (9.0 kg-m, 65 ft-lb)

  5. Installation of the remaining components is in reverse order of removal.
