DTC Confirmation Test (Using CONSULT-II)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Nissan Pathfinder. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Open hood before proceeding. If DTC confirmation procedure had been previously run, turn ignition off and wait at least 10 seconds before continuing. Before testing ensure that battery voltage is 11 volts or more at idle. If engine speed cannot be maintained within range displayed on CONSULT-II screen, perform basic inspection. See appropriate BASIC INSPECTION in BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES article. Ensure that EVAP hoses are connected to EVAP-CPVCSV properly.
NOTE: If any of the following conditions are met before DTC confirmation, allow vehicle to sit for one hour or more before testing.
  1. Turn ignition on. Turn ignition off and wait at least 10 seconds. Turn ignition on and select DATA MONITOR mode with CONSULT-II.
  2. Ensure following conditions are met:
    • FUEL LEVEL SE: 0.20-1.08V
    • COOLAN TEMP/S: 32-90°F (0-32°C)
    • FUEL T/TMP SE: 32-95°F (0-35°C)
    • INT/A TEMP SE: 32°F or more (0°C or more)
If above conditions are not met, turn ignition off. Leave vehicle in a cool place or drain and refill fuel tank until output voltage condition of FUEL LEVEL SE is within specified range. When voltage is as specified, allow vehicle to sit for one hour before testing. Then repeat test beginning in step  1.
  3. Turn ignition off and wait 10 seconds. Turn ignition on. Select EVP SML LEAK P0456/P1456 of EVAPORATIVE SYSTEM in DTC WORK SUPPORT mode with CONSULT- II. Follow instructions displayed.
  4. If OK is displayed on CONSULT-II, system is okay at this time. If NG is displayed, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .
