Diagnostic Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Nissan Pathfinder. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Turn ignition off. Loosen and retighten engine ground screws.
  2. Disconnect electric throttle control actuator harness connector. Turn ignition on. Check voltage between ground and electric throttle control actuator terminal No. 1. Voltage should be approximately 5 volts. If voltage is not as specified, go to next step. If voltage is as specified, go to step  4.
  3. Check the following:
    • ECM pin terminals.
    • Harness for open or short between electric throttle control actuator and ECM.
Repair open circuit or short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
  4. Check TP sensor. See DTC P2135: TP SENSOR - RANGE/PERFORMANCE PROBLEM . If TP sensor is okay, go to next step. If TP sensor is faulty, replace electric throttle control actuator. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION - PATHFINDER article. Perform relearn. See PROGRAMMING .
  5. No problem is indicated at this time. Problem may be intermittent. See INTERMITTENTS in TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article.
