Diagnostic Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Nissan Pathfinder. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Turn ignition off. Loosen and retighten engine ground screws.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect electric throttle control actuator harness connector. Disconnect ECM 116-pin harness connector. For ECM location, see Figure. Check circuit continuity between electric throttle control actuator and ECM. See ELECTRIC THROTTLE CONTROL ACTUATOR CIRCUIT CONTINUITY table. Also check for short between circuits, short to ground or short to power. If no problem is found, go to next step. If any problem is found, repair as necessary.ELECTRIC THROTTLE CONTROL ACTUATOR CIRCUIT CONTINUITY
Electric Throttle Control Actuator Harness Connector Terminal No. ECM Harness Connector Terminal No. 3 4 6 5 - Check throttle control motor resistance between terminals No. 3 and 6. Resistance should be 1-15 ohms at 77°F (25°C). If no problem is found, go to next step. If problem is found, replace electric throttle control actuator. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION - PATHFINDER article. Perform relearn. See PROGRAMMING . After repair, repeat DTC CONFIRMATION TEST.
- Check for intermittents. See INTERMITTENTS in TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article. If any problem is found, repair as necessary. If no problem is found, replace electric throttle control actuator. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION - PATHFINDER article. Perform relearn. See PROGRAMMING .
