DTC Confirmation Test (Using Generic Scan Tool)
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Nissan Pathfinder. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
Use the following test to check overall function of HO2S 2 circuit. During this test, 1st trip DTC may not be confirmed.
- Start engine and warm to operating temperature. Turn ignition off. Wait at least 10 seconds.
- Start engine. Raise engine speed to 3500-4000 RPM with no load for at least one minute. Allow engine to idle for one minute.
- Backprobing at ECM, measure voltage between ground and ECM terminal No. 74 (bank 1) or No. 55 (bank 2). See Figure and Figure .
- While observing voltmeter, snap throttle to 4000 RPM at least 10 times. Voltage should change at a rate of more than 0.06 volt per second during this procedure.
- If voltage is as specified, system is okay at this time. If voltage is not as specified, go to next step.
- Let engine idle for 10 minutes, then measure voltage again. Or, measure voltage while coasting from 50 MPH in Drive with OD off. If voltage is as specified, system is okay at this time. If voltage is not as specified, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .
