Master Cylinder

  1. Tighten the flange of master cylinder into a vise. Remove brake fluid from reservoir. Bend claws of stopper cap outward and remove stopper cap. See Figure. With a.16 in. (4 mm) pin punch, drive out spring pin (with ABS) from cylinder body and remove reservoir. Remove valve stopper (with ABS) while lightly pushing primary piston into cylinder. Remove piston assemblies.
  2. If secondary piston assembly is difficult to remove, gradually apply compressed air through fluid outlet.
  3. Inspect inner wall of cylinder for damage, wear, corrosion, and pin holes. Replace parts as necessary. Replace cylinder if defective.
    4. CAUTION: DO NOT reuse primary and secondary piston assemblies.
    NOTE: DO NOT use any dropped parts.
  4. To reassemble, reverse disassembly procedure.
