Parking Brake

  1. Raise and support rear of vehicle. Release parking brake. Loosen parking brake lever adjusting nut. Adjust rear brakes (drum only). Depress brake pedal fully at least 5 times. Operate control lever 10 times or more with a full stroke of 8.47 in. (215.2 mm).
  2. Adjust lever stroke by pulling lever using 44 lbs. (20 kg) of force, counting the number of notches. Tighten or loosen adjusting nut to achieve required lever stroke. See PARKING BRAKE LEVER STROKE SPECIFICATIONS  table. Release parking brake and ensure rear wheels rotate freely. Adjust warning lamp by bending switch plate if necessary.
NOTE: For rear disc brake models, be sure that toggle lever returns to stopper when parking brake lever is released and that there is no drag on rear brakes when parking brake lever is released.
