Brake Pedal Height
CAUTION:
After adjustments, make sure that stop lamps go off when pedal is released.
Check brake pedal free height "H" and depressed height "D" from floor panel to top of brake pedal pad. See Fig 1. See BRAKE PEDAL HEIGHT table. To adjust brake pedal height, loosen lock nut and rotate brake booster input rod. Tighten lock nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Ensure rod tip stays inside input rod clevis. Check pedal free play. See BRAKE PEDAL FREE PLAY . Check brake pedal depressed height while engine is running. If lower than specification, check brake system for leaks, accumulation of air or any damage to components (master cylinder, wheel cylinder, etc.), then make necessary repairs.
