DTC 61: (Actuator Motor Relay Or Motor)

  1. Check motor relay ABS motor fusible link "g" (40-amp) . See Figure and Figure . If fusible link is okay, go to next step. If fusible link is blown, go to step  5 .
  2. Turn ignition Off. Disconnect ABS actuator/control unit 31 pin harness connector. See Figure . Check terminals for damage or loose connection. If a problem is found, repair as necessary. Perform self-diagnostics again. See SELF-DIAGNOSTICS  . Check ABS warning light. If ABS warning lamp stays on, go to next step. If ABS warning lamp does not stay on, testing is complete.
  3. Turn ignition Off. Disconnect ABS actuator/control unit 31 pin harness connector. Measure voltage between chassis ground and ABS actuator/control unit 31 pin harness connector terminal No. 17 (B/Y). See Figure . If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, check harness for faulty circuit between ABS actuator/control unit and fusible link. Repair as necessary.
  4. Check ABS actuator/control unit ground circuit. See ABS ACTUATOR/CONTROL UNIT GROUND  under TROUBLE SHOOTING. If ground circuit is okay, replace ABS actuator/control unit. See ABS ACTUATOR/CONTROL UNIT  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If ground circuit is not okay, check for faulty circuit between ABS actuator/control unit and ground. Repair as necessary.
  5. Turn ignition Off. Replace motor relay fusible link "g" (40-amp). See Figure and Figure . Turn ignition on. Observe fusible link. If fusible link blows, go to next step. If fusible link does not blow, system is okay.
  6. Turn ignition Off. Disconnect battery cables. Check continuity between chassis ground and ABS actuator/control unit 31 pin harness connector terminal No. 17 (B/Y). See Figure . If continuity exists, check ABS actuator/control unit pin terminals and harness connector for damage. If a problem is found, repair as necessary. Check for faulty circuit between ABS actuator/control unit and fusible link "g". See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If a problem is found, repair as necessary. After repairs, retest system. See SELF-DIAGNOSTICS  . If continuity did not exist between terminal 17 and chassis ground, replace ABS actuator/control unit. See ABS ACTUATOR/CONTROL UNIT  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
