Pressure Adjustment (Frontier & Xterra 2.4L, 2WD): Notes

  1. Ensure vehicle is in unladen condition. (With fuel tank, radiator and engine oil full, and spare tire, jack and hand tools in designated positions.) To stabilize suspension deflection, have one person sit in driver's seat and one person sit on rear of vehicle. Then have person on rear of vehicle slowly get off.
  2. Measure length "L" and adjust to 7.99" (203 mm) as follows. See Figure. Press lever to the stopper bolt, then check length "L". If length "L" is not within specification, adjust spring length.
  3. Install pressure gauges to front and rear brake air bleeders. Bleed air from pressure gauges. Depress brake pedal until front brake fluid pressure reaches 711 psi (50 kg/cm2 ) . Check rear brake fluid output pressure. See LSV PRESSURE SPECIFICATIONS  table.
  4. Depress brake pedal again, raising front brake fluid pressure reading to 1422 psi (100 kg/cmcm2 ). Ensure rear brake fluid output pressure reading is as specified. See LSPV PRESSURE SPECIFICATIONS  table.
  5. Set weight down slowly over axle center so that sensor spring length becomes the same as when in loaded condition. Check rear brake fluid pressure as described in step  3 above. If pressure readings are not as specified, adjust spring bracket. See Figure. Repeat test. If pressure readings are still not as specified, replace LSPV and repeat test.
