Speedometer Indicator Flutters

  1. Check VSS

    Check VSS installation for looseness, etc. Remove VSS. Turn VSS pinion gear by hand. Slight resistance should be felt. Replace VSS if necessary. If VSS is okay, go to next step.

  2. Check Harness Continuity

    Turn ignition off. Remove instrument cluster. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connectors. Using DVOM, check Red wire and Red/Yellow wire for continuity between VSS harness connector and appropriate instrument cluster harness connector. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If continuity is present at both circuits, replace speedometer. If continuity is not present at both circuits, repair open in appropriate circuit.
