Governor Pressure Test

Note the location of pressure test port.
Always replace pressure plugs as they are self-sealing bolts.
1. Check A/T and engine fluid levels. If necessary, add fluid.
2. Drive vehicle for about 10 minutes or until engine oil and ATF reach operating temperature.
ATF operating temperature: 50 - 80° C (122 - 176° F)
3. Install pressure gauge to governor pressure port.
4. Set parking brake and block rear wheels.
5. Jack up front wheels.
6. Set selector lever in "D" position and gradually depress accelerator pedal.
Be careful of rotating wheels.
Governor pressure:
- Governor pressure is not generated when vehicle is stopped. (Front wheels are not rotating.)
- Governor pressure rises gradually in response to vehicle speed. (Front wheel rotating speed.)
If not, check governor valve assembly.
Vehicle speed and pressure:
0 km/h (0 MPH): 0 kPa (0 psi)
16 km/h (10 MPH): 59 - 69 kPa (9 - 10 psi)
32 km/h (20 MPH): 108 - 127 psi (16 - 18 psi)
80 km/h (50 MPH): 284 - 343 psi (41 - 50 psi)
