Camshaft: Service and Repair

INSTALLATION

NOTE:
Make sure camshafts are aligned as shown and install camshaft.





Identification marks are present on camshafts.








Install camshaft brackets and distributor bracket.
Make sure camshaft brackets are aligned as shown.
Apply liquid gasket to distributor bracket as shown.
Apply new engine oil to bolt threads and seat surfaces.

Torque Sequence:

Refer to the illustration and tighten the camshaft bracket bolts as follows:
1. Set camshafts and camshaft brackets.
2. Tighten bolt Nos. 11 - 15, then 1 - 10 to 2.0 Nm (17.7 inch lbs.).
3. Tighten bolt Nos. 1 - 15 to 5.9 Nm (52.2 inch lbs.).
4. Tighten bolt Nos. 1 - 14 to 9.0 - 11.8 Nm (6.7 - 8.7 ft. lbs.).
5. Tighten bolt No. 15 to 6.3 - 8.3 Nm (55.8 - 73.5 inch lbs.).
If any part of valve assembly or camshaft is replaced, check valve clearance according to specifications below. After completing assembly, check valve clearance. Cold valve clearance is 0.25 - 0.33 mm (0.010 - 0.013 inch) for the intake and 0.32 - 0.40 mm (0.013 - 0.016 inch) for the exhaust.
