Brake Hose/Line: Service and Repair


CAUTION
^ Be careful not to splash brake fluid on painted areas; it may cause paint damage. If brake fluid is splashed on painted areas, wash it away with water immediately.
^ All hoses must be free from excessive bending, twisting and pulling.

REMOVAL
1. Connect vinyl tube to air bleeder valve and the other end to a suitable container.
2. Drain brake fluid from each air bleeder valve by depressing brake pedal.
3. Remove flare nut connecting brake tube and hose, then withdraw lock spring. Use proper line wrench for hose and tube connections.
4. Cover openings to prevent entrance of dirt whenever disconnecting brake line.

INSTALLATION
1. Install all flare nuts and connecting bolts. Torque flare nuts to 15-18 Nm (11-13 ft. lb.) and connecting bolts to 17-20 Nm (12-14 ft. lb.)
2. Refill until new brake fluid comes out of each air bleeder valve.

CAUTION: Refill with new "DOT 3" brake fluid and never reuse drained brake fluid.

3. Bleed air from the hydraulic system. Service and Repair
