Hydraulic Control Assembly - Antilock Brakes: Service and Repair

REPLACEMENT

ABS Actuator:

1. Disconnect battery cable and drain brake fluid.
2. Discharge air conditioner refrigerant.

Actuator Connectors:

3. Disconnect all connectors from ABS relay bracket.

Mounting Bolts:

4. Remove mounting bolt for relay bracket.
5. Remove ABS relay box with bracket.
6. Remove air conditioner low-pressure tubes.

Actuator Brake Lines:

7. Disconnect and separate brake lines and move away from control actuator. It is not necessary to remove these lines from vehicle.

Mounting Nuts:

8. Remove/loosen mounting nuts between control actuator and bracket.

Actuator And Bracket Assembly:

9. Remove ABS control actuator as shown.

ABS Actuator And Bracket Installation:

10. Reverse procedure to install,noting the following:
^ Apply soapy water to rubber bushing when installing.
^ Refill brake fluid and bleed air from the system. Brake Bleeding

^ Charge air conditioner with refrigerant.
