SERVICE INFORMATION

If the on-board diagnostic system (OBD-II) of a 1995-96 Sentra or 2OOSX with A/T and GAl6DE engines identifies a DTC of P1550 (TCC solenoid valve), use the following service procedure to resolve the incident.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Confirm the malfunction indicator light (MIL) is "ON".

2. Use CONSULT to make sure the DTC stored in ECM memory is P1550 (TCC solenoid valve).

3. Print freeze frame data which will show the driving conditions during the incident.

4. Try to duplicate the incident using the CONSULT freeze frame data.

5. If you cannot duplicate the incident using the freeze frame data, use the following driving conditions to duplicate the incident:

^ Engine warmed to at least 158°F (70°C).

^ 48-63 mph in over drive.

6. Observe the engine revolutions during the test drive as follows:

IMPORTANT:
The transmission must be in 4th gear lock-up. The transmission will not perform 4th gear lock-up until the engine is at operating temperature.

Vehicle Speed MPH Engine Speed RPM

50 2,000
55 2,200
60 2,400

AB6:

7. Once the MIL is duplicated, use the flow chart and wiring diagram to diagnose the root cause.

8. Test drive the vehicle under the driving conditions from step 5 and use CONSULT to confirm no DTCs are stored in the ECM.

IMPORTANT:
If the weld marks align with the mounting holes as shown, DO NOT use this torque converter. This is the old design.
