DEALER RESPONSIBILITY

Retailed Vehicles:

On February 18, 1995, Nissan began contacting the owners of affected vehicles by telephone. in most cases, arrangements have been already been made through Cross Country Motor Club (CCMC) to provide the customer with a rental car and to tow their Sentra/200SX to the Nissan dealer of their choice. There is no charge to either the customer or the dealer for this pre-arranged service. However, if a customer in possession of an affected vehicle should contact a dealer and request towing and a loaner car, the dealer may arrange towing and place the customer in a rental vehicle for the time required to complete the repairs. The campaign-affected vehicle should be picked up at the customer's location, and , if at all possible, the loaner vehicle delivered at the same time. Nissan will reimburse these non-CCMC costs.

THE CUSTOMER SHOULD BE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED NOT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE!

Once the vehicle is at the dealership, Nissan will arrange to have a technician from "Robert Bosch", the supplier of the A.B.S. system, travel to the dealership to check and/or correct the ABS system utilizing special equipment. It will be necessary for the dealer to provide a technician to assist the Bosch representative, and to perform the final full-system brake bleeding.

After the campaign is performed, dealers are to fill the gas tank of each campaign vehicle before returning it to the customer. The dealer will then notify the customer to return their rental to the dealership, and pick up their vehicle. Upon return of the rental, the dealer will immediately contact the appropriate rental company to pick up their car.

Dealer Inventory Vehicles:

All vehicles involved in the campaign in dealer inventory will be repurchased by Nissan and returned to a V.P.C. for inspection and repair. Subsequent to the inspection, the same vehicle will be re-sold and returned to the originating dealers inventory. Dealers will be contacted by regional personnel with complete details of this action. Federal law requires that new vehicles in dealer inventory which are the subject of a safety recall must be corrected prior to sale. Failure to do so can result in civil penalties by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
