Fuel Tank Pressure Release Valve: Description and Operation

Fuel Filler Cap:

PURPOSE
The Fuel Tank Vacuum Relief Valve is designed to prevent fuel vapor from escaping into the atmosphere and to allow the introduction of air into the fuel tank to displace the fuel as it is used. This prevents the fuel tank from collapsing.

OPERATION
The Fuel Tank Vacuum Relief Valve acts as a one way check and vapor relief valve. It lets atmospheric pressure in and routes excessive fuel vapor and pressure into the Carbon Canister. This is a totally sealed system

CONSTRUCTION
As an integral part of the fuel filler cap, the Fuel Tank Vacuum Relief Valve is not replacable separately.
