Distributor Ignition (DI) System

Ignition System Controls:

PURPOSE
The ignition system provides input signals and output devises to allow the Engine Control Module (ECM) to maintain the best blend of engine performance and emissions under all operating conditions.

OPERATION
The ignition timing data is stored in the ECM in the form of a map.
By detecting information such as the injection pulse width and camshaft position sensor signal, which varies every moment, the ECM can respond to this information and transmit ignition signals to the Power Transistor.
In addition to this,
^ At start up
^ During warm up
^ At idle
^ Hot engine operation
^ At acceleration
^ At low battery voltage
^ During high load operation Valve Timing Control (VTC) "ON" the ignition timing is revised by the ECM according to the other data stored in the ECM.
