1994 TRUCK SHIFTER BOOT

SERVICE INFORMATION

Some customers may experience a condition where the manual transmission shift lever boot slides down the shifter, exposing a non cosmetic section of the lever. This incident may be caused by engine vibration or by inadvertently pushing the rubber boot down. The following procedure has been developed to resolve this incident.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Remove the shift lever boot. There is no need to remove the shift lever knob.




2. Using a sharp utility knife, cut out the center section of the rubber radiator mount (P/N 21506-50J00) along the dashed line shown in the illustration leaving a rubber ring with an opening of about 1 inch diameter.

3. Slide the rubber ring down the shift lever to about 1 inch from the lower end of the thick section of the lever.

4. Install a thin tie wrap around the recessed area on the outside perimeter of the rubber ring.

5. Install the rubber boot over the secured rubber ring such that the rubber ring will prevent the boot from falling.
