SERVICE INFORMATION:
Some KB13/NX customers may complain of their parcel shelf hinges breaking or hinge screws pulling out. This repair procedure replaces existing screws with black rivets and replaces the hinge if it is is broken. It is easier if one (1) screw is replaced at a time while the second screw provides location/alignment. Replacing the stripped screw first is best.
1. Remove one (1) screw from hinge pin & parcel shelf. If already stripped out, just remove screw from hinge.
2. Drill one (1) 4.8 mm or 3/16" or 0.1890" or # 12 diameter hole where the screw used to be (be sure hinge is in its original position).
3. Insert one (1) black rivet from the fabric (fuzzy) side.
4. "Pop" the rivet per the rivet guns normal procedures assuring the hinge is straight & tight.
5. Remove second screw and repeat the above procedure.
6. Repeat procedure on the remaining hinge.
NOTE:
If a rivet needs to be drilled out (for a new hinge or bad rivet) it is best to turn the parcel shelf upside down (fuzzy side down) because the metal drilled chips stick to the fuzzy material and are very difficult to remove.
