D21/WD21 A/C CHARGE SPECIFICATION AND LABELING

APPLIED MODELS:
1993 Truck(D21)/Pathfinder(WD21)

SERVICE INFORMATION:

The A/C system for the 1993 D21/WD21 vehicles is designed to use R-134a Refrigerant. Nissan Technical Service Bulletins NTB92-001 (HA92-001, "A/C System Changes for R134a Refrigerant") and NTB92-055 (HA92-003, "D21/WD21 A/C Changes for R-134a Refrigerant") describe the changes in detail. This R-134a A/C system has a unique A/C specification label. Early production vehicles may have labels in an incorrect location or labels may be missing. Remove and replace/relocate labels, as appropriate. Information regarding the correct label specifications and location is given below.

I. Label Location:

The A/C charge specification label on some early production vehicles with factory A/C systems may be in the incorrect location or the label may be missing altogether. The correct location for the label is on the driver's side of the engine room wall (Figure 1).

II. Charge Specification:

Some early production Port and Dealer -installed A/C systems may have an A/C label with the incorrect charge specification printed on it. The correct A/C specification label is shown. (Figure 2):

Note that the correct refrigerant charge specification for all 1993 D21/WD21 A/C systems is:

0.80 +/- 0.05 kg 1.76 +/- 0.11 lb

When charging the system, use 0.80 kg of R-134a. This is the correct specification for all 1993 D21/WD21 A/C systems. If a vehicle with an incorrect charge specification label is encountered, there is no need to recover and recharge the system. If service is performed on such a vehicle, the A/C system should be recharged to the correct specification.

PARTS INFORMATION:

If ordering new labels to replace missing, incorrect, or misplaced labels, use the part numbers given.
