Exhaust Manifold: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove exhaust pipe to exhaust manifold attaching nuts.

3. Disconnect any vacuum hoses or electrical connectors that interfere with manifold removal, Fig. 4. Mark hoses and connectors for installation reference.
4. Remove A/C compressor from its bracket and position aside. Do not disconnect refrigerant lines.
5. Remove alternator from its bracket and position aside.

6. Remove compressor and alternator brackets.
7. Using sequence shown in Fig. 7, remove exhaust manifold attaching bolts.
8. Remove manifolds from engine.
9. Reverse procedure to install. Tighten manifold attaching bolts to specifications using sequence shown in Fig. 8.
