REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1. Raise and support front of vehicle and remove wheel.
2. Disconnect brake hose from caliper.
3. Remove caliper assembly from spindle.
Brake Hose Installation:
4. Reverse procedure to install, making sure brake hose is securely mounted to caliper.
5. Check for leaks and repair if necessary.
CAUTIONS:
- Use brake fluid to clean. Never use mineral oil.
- Piston sliding surface is plated. Do not polish with emery paper even if rust or foreign materials are stuck to the sliding surfaces.
DISASSEMBLY
Dual Piston Removal:
- Push out piston with compressed air.
INSPECTION
1. Check inside surface of cylinder for score, rust, wear, damage or presence of foreign materials. If any of the above conditions are observed, replace caliper body.
2. Minor damage from rust or foreign materials may be eliminated by polishing the surface with a fine emery paper.
3. Replace caliper if necessary.
4. Check piston for score, rust wear, damage or presence of foreign materials. Replace if any of these conditions are observed.
5. Check the pin, pin bolt and pin boot for wear, cracks or other damage. Replace if any of these conditions are observed.
ASSEMBLY
Caliper Piston Installed:
1. Lubricate piston seal, caliper and piston with brake fluid or brake assembly lube.
2. Insert piston seal into groove on cylinder body and install piston.
Piston Installation:
3. Insert piston gradually into cylinder body. Before it is inserted completely, mount dust cover on piston.
