Gear Sensor/Switch: Description and Operation

PURPOSE

The [1][2]neutral switch signals the ECM when the transmission is in neutral. This signal is used by the ECM to make sure fuel cut (during decel for example) does not happen unless the transmission is in gear. This prevents engine dying.

LOCATION

Mounted to the transmission case, nearest the shifter.
