SERVICE INFORMATION
The factory applies a protective coating to the brake rotor and pads to prevent corrosion during shipping. At low vehicle mileage, the coating may cause a mild brake pull as it wears off. If a customer reports that a vehicle exhibits a mild pull during braking even after suspension and brake adjustments, perform the following procedure to bed-in the brake pads.
1. Select a road with no interfering traffic. Perform 10 moderate stops from 55-0 mph. There may be a small amount of smoke from the front brakes on the later stops. This is normal -- large amounts of smoke indicate that the stops are too hard.
2. After the tenth stop, cool the brakes as follows:
^ Drive 15-20 miles at norrnal speed without stopping. or
^ Park the vehicle for 2-3 hours.
3. Road test the vehicle after the brakes have completely cooled to ensure proper brake performance.
