Coolant Temperature Gauge Test: 240SX

  1. To check power source, turn ignition switch to "ON" position. Check voltage between terminal No. 24 and ground. If there is 12 volts go to step 3).
  2. If there is not 12 volts, check for blown fusible link or fuse. Check harness continuity between battery terminal and combination meter. Check for malfunctioning ignition relay and/or ignition switch.
  3. Connect a jumper wire between terminal "A" and ground for less than 10 seconds. See Figure. Coolant temperature gauge should move smoothly to end of the scale. If it does not, replace coolant temperature gauge.
  4. If coolant temperature gauge does move smoothly to end of the scale, perform COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENDING UNIT TEST . If sending unit is okay, repair or replace sending unit harness.
