Reassembly and Installation

Center Bearing Assembly






1. Apply a coat of multi-purpose lithium grease containing molybdenum disulfide to the end face of the center bearing and both sides of the washer.
2. When installing the center bearing, position the "F" mark towards the front of the vehicle as shown.






3. Align match marks when assembling tubes and install new retaining nut.
4. Stake the nut as shown.

Journal (63H, 71H and 80B) Assembly






1. Assemble journal bearing. Apply recommended multi-purpose grease on bearing inner surface.

Caution: When assembling, be careful that needle bearing does not fall down.









2. Use a snap ring that will provide specified play in axial direction of journal as shown. Select snap rings with a difference in thickness at both sides within 0.06mm (0.0024 in).






3. Adjust thrust clearance between bearing and snap ring to zero by tapping yoke.






4. Check to see that journal moves smoothly and that axial play does not exceed 0.02mm (0.0008 in).

Installation






1. Remove plug from rear end of transmission extension housing. Slide propeller shaft onto output shaft of transmission.






2. Line up match marks on flanges and install propeller shaft to final drive.
