Removal & Installation: Engine: Removal

- Block wheels and mark hinge locations on hood for installation reference, and remove. In order to bleed off fuel pressure, start engine. Remove fuel pump fuse from fuse block with engine running. After engine stalls, crank engine 2 or 3 times. Turn ignition switch to "OFF" position. Install fuel pump fuse into fuse block.
- Remove battery. Remove power steering pump and A/C compressor (if equipped) with hoses connected. Drain cooling system and engine crankcase. Remove radiator hoses and air cleaner. Remove charcoal canister.
- On automatic transmission/transaxle models, disconnect oil cooler lines. Remove radiator and shroud. Remove lower splash guard (if equipped). Disconnect accelerator linkage. Label and disconnect all wiring and hoses interfering with engine removal.
- Disconnect clutch linkage (if equipped). Disconnect exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold. Install engine hoist and raise engine slightly to remove pressure from motor mounts. Disconnect motor mounts. Remove engine.
