Removal & Installation

Drain coolant from radiator and engine block. See Fig 1. Remove fan belts and crankshaft pulley.

NOTE: It is not necessary to loosen or remove timing belt during water pump removal and installation, unless belt has been contaminated.

NOTE: Note location of water pump retaining bolts for proper reassembly.

Remove upper and lower timing belt covers to access water pump retaining bolts. See Figure. Remove 6 water pump bolts and remove water pump from vehicle. See Fig 2.

NOTE: Use a scraper to remove the old liquid gasket from mating surface of cylinder block.

To install, reverse removal procedure. Apply a continuous bead of liquid gasket Sealant (KP610-00250), to mating surface of water pump. Pressure check system for leaks after installation. Tighten all fasteners to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
