SERVICE INFORMATION

The latch tap plate on the sliding rear window of the 1986.5 Truck may break during use. The material of the shim has been changed beginning with March 1986 production. Use the following Parts Information and Service Procedure to repair broken window latches.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Remove and discard the shims on the inside and outside of the left side glass (latch body side). Do not discard the latch body because it will be reused.
2. Install a new shim only on the outside of the glass, using a new tap plate.

CAUTION: Do not apply adhesive or sealant as they may chemically weaken the latch material.

3. Tighten the fasteners with care to avoid breaking the tap plate.
