Transmission Installation

1. Install transmission by reversing removal procedures.
2. Install suspension torsion bars.
3. Reset vehicle ride height. Vehicle Ride Height
4. Road test vehicle after transmission installation.









4WD TRANSMISSION INSTALLATION CAUTIONS

^ When installing transfer case to tailhousing, use Three Bond sealant 1215 or equivalent formed-in-place type gasket/sealant on mating surfaces.
^ Check the two aligning dowels in the rear of the engine block for damage. Replace as necessary. Damaged dowels can cause transmission to jump out of gear.

^ Apply required sealant at engine block/transmission as shown below.



^ Before installing shifter control housing, make sure the control lever bushing is straight in the striking arm.

^ Apply Three Bond sealant 1215 or equivalent formed-in-place type gasket/sealant to the shifter control housing mating surface. Use the proper size bolts as shown below.
^ Torque all the bolts per the specifications shown in the illustrations of the removal procedure.

^ Refill transmission with the appropriate gear oil for your area temperature.

^ Use mineral spirits for cleanup of vehicle undercoating.
