APPLIED MODEL: 1986.5 Truck with VG30 (V6) engine

SERVICE INFORMATION

Some 1986.5 Trucks equipped with the VG30 engine may exhibit an engine oil leak from the rear of the engine. This leak may be due to a poor seal at the oil pressure switch. Check the seal at the oil pressure switch before replacing the rear oil seal or oil pressure switch. Use the Service Procedure below to repair an oil leak at this seal.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Remove the oil pressure switch from the engine block. Clean off oil from the threads of the switch and the threads in the engine block.
2. Apply Teflon tape or equivalent to the threads of the oil pressure switch.

3. Install the switch into the block and torque to 7 - 12 ft.lbs. (1.0 - 1.6 kg-m).
