SERVICE INFORMATION
CAUTION: When installing the A/C evaporator assembly in a 1986.5 Truck, DO NOT use an air wrench to remove the nut from the upper mounting stud (see below). Use ONLY hand tools to remove this nut.
The threads of the stud are painted, which may cause the nut to bind during removal. Therefore, because the stud is welded to bracket, it may break off if an air wrench is used to remove the nut. If the stud does break, it must be drilled out and a new bolt installed in its place (do not weld). The lower mounting points of the evaporator assembly may be damaged if the evaporator is not properly secured at the upper mounting point.
