Power Source Circuit
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1985 Nissan Maxima and 1985 Nissan 200SX. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Remove instrument cluster with harness connected. Using a volt/ohmmeter, check power source circuit beginning with step 2).
- Measure voltage between terminal No. 20 (+) and No. 16 (-). With ignition switch positioned to "OFF", "ACC" or "ON", reading should be 12 volts. See Fig 1 .
- Measure voltage between terminal No. 19 (+) and No. 16 (-). With ignition switch positioned to "OFF" or "ACC", reading should be zero volts. In "ON" position, reading should be 12 volts.
- Measure voltage between terminal No. 18 (+) and No. 16 (-). With ignition switch positioned to "OFF" or "ACC", reading should be zero volts. With ignition switch in "ON" position, reading should be 6.5 volts.
- Measure voltage between terminal No. 17 (+) and No. 16 (-). With ignition switch positioned to "OFF" or "ACC", reading should be zero volts. In "ON" position, reading should be 12 volts.
- With ignition switch in "OFF" position, measure resistance between terminal No. 16 (+) and body ground (-). Continuity should exist.
