Valve Seat Inserts
NOTE:
Valve seat inserts are available in .020" (.50 mm) oversize for service.
- Check valves and valve seat inserts for contact. Standard seat contact for intake insert is .071-.083" (1.80-2.10 mm). Standard seat contact for exhaust insert is .055-.071" (1.40-1.80 mm). Check valve seat inserts for pitting at valve contact surface.
- Correct valve seat surface or replace if excessively worn. When replacing insert, ensure insert is recessed into head 1.6929-1.6935" (43.000-43.016 mm) for intake and 1.4567-1.4573" (37.000-37.016 mm) for exhaust insert.
- Interference fit of insert is .0032-.0044" (.081-.113 mm) for intake and .0025-.0038" (.064-.096 mm) for exhaust. During installation, ensure insert fits squarely in bore and sets at bottom of recess.
