Removal & Installation: Engine: Removal

  1. Mark hood hinge positions. Remove hood. Remove battery and support bracket. Remove radiator reservoir tank. Remove air intake duct. Remove undercover. Drain coolant. Remove radiator and cooling fan.
  2. If equipped, remove power steering pump, bracket, air conditioning compressor, and idler pulley. DO NOT  discharge systems. Secure components away from engine. Disconnect front exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold.
  3. Disconnect accelerator cable. Disconnect linkage, cables, vacuum hoses, and wiring from transaxle. Plug pinion gear hole once speedometer cable is removed. Remove EGR vacuum control valve with bracket from body.
  4. Remove lower ball joints and discard mount nuts. Drain gear oil from transaxle. Loosen 3 top bolts from struts. Remove both drive shafts from transaxle. DO NOT  damage oil seals.
  5. Label and disconnect all vacuum, fuel, and air hoses and electrical wiring between engine and chassis. Attach lifting sling and engine hoist to engine. Disconnect engine and transaxle mounts. Lift engine and transaxle from vehicle.
