Removal & Installation: Camshaft: Removal

  1. Turn crankshaft until No. 1 piston is at TDC on compression stroke. Remove accessory drive belts. Remove outer, upper and lower, front dust covers. Remove tensioner and timing belt. Remove valve cover and gasket.
  2. Remove fuel pump, spacer, cylinder head rear plate, fuel pump drive cam, and camshaft sprocket. Before rocker arm assembly removal, fully loosen rocker arm adjusting screws.
  3. When removing rocker arm assembly, loosen mount bolts evenly, from the outside. Remove assembly. Keep all components in order. Pull camshaft from cylinder head.
