Oil Pump: Removal

  1. Drain engine oil. Remove oil pan and oil strainer. Remove water pump belt, crankshaft pulley, and damper. Remove timing belt tensioner, timing belt, and crankshaft sprocket.
    NOTE: After timing belt is removed, DO NOT  rotate crankshaft and camshaft.
  2. Remove oil pump mount bolts and oil pump assembly. Check all gear-to-cresent and gear-to-body clearances with a feeler gauge. Use a straightedge and feeler gauge to check end clearance of gears to housing and cover.
