Engine Lubrication: Notes

Pressure is provided to oiling system by an inner gear type-pump. Oil pump is mounted on front of crankshaft, and is driven by crankshaft. Oil pump feeds oil from pan to full-flow oil filter. Oil is then pumped into main oil gallery of crankcase where it is split into 2 circuits.

Oil is distributed to the main bearings and to the cylinder head oil gallery. From the main bearings oil is fed to connecting rods. Cylinder walls and piston pins are lubricated by oil squirt hole in connecting rod. From the cylinder head oil gallery oil is fed to the number 4 camshaft bracket, which feeds the camshaft, rocker shaft, and the rocker arm. See Figure .
