Removal (Drive Belt & Pump)
- Set No. 1 piston to TDC on compression stroke. Ensure grooves in rear plate and drive plate are aligned with each other. Check No. 1 valve is closed. Remove radiator shroud and fan. Remove drive belt, alternator belt, power steering belt, air conditioner belt and power steering pump belt, if equipped.
- Remove crankshaft damper belt and dust cover. Loosen spring set pin and tensioner shaft. Set tensioner pulley to free tension position and tighten. Mark pump drive belt if necessary and remove. Drain oil from vacuum pump.
- Manually rotate pump shaft at alternator pulley to discharge any accumulated oil in pump. Disconnect all hoses and remove vacuum pump assembly from rear of alternator.
