Diesel Engine Brake Vacuum Pump: Installation

  1. To install pump and belt, reverse removal procedure and note the following: Install timing belt. Clean pulley and tensioner if dirty or oil soaked. DO NOT  handle new belt with oily hands.
  2. Align timing marks of pump drive gear and crankshaft pulley with drive belt marks. Marks must be 20 belt cogs apart. Loosen spring set pin and tensioner shaft so belt is automatically set to tension position.
  3. Turn crankshaft twice (in operating direction) and tighten spring set pin and tensioner shaft to 22-30 ft. lbs. (30-40 N.m). Install dust cover and drive belts. Install fan pulley together with power steering belt. Install fan and radiator shroud.
