Inspection Procedure 2: One of the daytime running light assemblies does not illuminate normally: Diagnosis

Required Special Tools:

  1. STEP 1. Check position and daytime running light assembly (DRL: LH) connector A-76 or daytime running light assembly (DRL: RH) connector A-77 for loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector.

Q: Is position and daytime running light assembly (DRL: LH) connector A-76 or daytime running light assembly (DRL: RH) connector A-77 in good condition?

YES  : Go to Step  2.

NO  : Repair or replace the damaged component(s). (Refer to HARNESS CONNECTOR INSPECTION .)

  2. STEP 2. Check the ground circuit to the position and daytime running light assembly (DRL: LH) or (DRL: RH). Measure the resistance at position and daytime running light assembly (DRL: LH) connector A-76 or position and daytime running light assembly (DRL: RH) connector A-77.
    1. Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
    2. Check the resistance between the daytime running light connector and ground.
    • Resistance between position and daytime running light assembly (DRL: LH) connector A-76 or daytime running light assembly (DRL: RH) connector A-77 terminal 3 and ground

OK: The measured value should be continuity exists (2 ohms or less).

Q: Is the measured resistance 2 ohms or less?

YES  : Go to Step  4.

NO  : Go to Step  3.

  3. STEP 3. Check the wiring harness between position and daytime running light assembly (DRL: LH) connector A-76 (terminal 3) or position and daytime running light assembly (DRL: RH) connector A-77 (terminal 3) and ground.
NOTE: Also check intermediate connector A-52, C-15 for loose, corroded, or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector. If intermediate connector A-52, C-15 is damaged, repair or replace the connector as described in HARNESS CONNECTOR INSPECTION .
    • Check the ground wires for open circuit.

Q: Is the wiring harness between position and daytime running light assembly (DRL: LH) connector A-76 (terminal 3) or position and daytime running light assembly (DRL: RH) connector A-77 (terminal 3) and ground in good condition?

YES  : The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTIONS ).

NO  : The wiring harness may be damaged or the connector(s) may have loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector. Repair the wiring harness as necessary.

  4. STEP 4. Check daytime running light relay connector A-27X for loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector.

Q: Is daytime running light relay connector A-27X in good condition?

YES  : Go to Step  5.

NO  : Repair or replace the damaged component(s). (Refer to HARNESS CONNECTOR INSPECTION .)

  5. STEP 5. Check the wiring harness between daytime running light relay connector A-27X (terminal 3) and position and daytime running light assembly (DRL: LH) connector A-76 (terminal 2) or position and daytime running light assembly (DRL: RH) connector A-77 (terminal 2).
NOTE: Also check intermediate connector A-52 for loose, corroded, or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector. If intermediate connector A-52 is damaged, repair or replace the connector as described in HARNESS CONNECTOR INSPECTION .
    • Check the power supply line for open circuit.

Q: Is the wiring harness between daytime running light relay connector A-27X (terminal 3) and position and daytime running light assembly (DRL: LH) connector A-76 (terminal 2) or position and daytime running light assembly (DRL: RH) connector A-77 (terminal 2) in good condition?

YES  : Go to Step  6.

NO  : The wiring harness may be damaged or the connector(s) may have loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector. Repair the wiring harness as necessary.

  6. STEP 6. Retest the system.

Q: Does the right or left daytime running light does not illuminate in good condition?

YES  : The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTIONS ).

NO  : Replace the position and daytime running light assembly.
