Inspection Procedure 7: Fuel Gauge does not work (other meters work): Diagnosis

STEP 1. Using scan tool MB991958, read the combination meter diagnostic trouble code.
CAUTION: To prevent damage to scan tool MB991958, always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool MB991958.
1. Connect scan tool MB991958. Refer to "HOW TO CONNECT THE SCAN TOOL (M.U.T.-III) ."
2. Turn the ignition switch from "LOCK" (OFF) position to "ON" position.
3. Check if DTC No. B1201 is set.
Q: Is the DTC No. B1201 set?
1. YES: Perform the troubleshooting of when the DTC is set (Refer to DTC B1201: ABNORMAL FUEL INFORMATION < FWD > < FWD > or DTC B1201: ABNORMAL FUEL INFORMATION < AWD > < AWD >).
2. NO: Go to Step 2.
STEP 2. Check the fuel level sensor.
Check to see if the fuel level sensor is normal (Refer to FUEL LEVEL SENSOR CHECK ).

Q: Is the check result normal?
1. YES: Go to Step 3.
2. NO: Replace the fuel level sensor.
STEP 3. Retest the system.
Check that the fuel gauge works normally.

Q: Is the check result normal?
1. YES: The procedure is complete.
2. NO: Replace the combination meter.
