Inspection Procedure 9: The lock switch of the liftgate lock release handle does not perform the locking operation: Diagnosis

- STEP 1. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III), read the diagnostic trouble code.
Check if any DTC is stored in the KOS-ECU.
CAUTION: To prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-III), always turn the power supply mode of the engine switch to the OFF position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-III).- Connect scan tool (M.U.T.-III). Refer to "HOW TO CONNECT SCAN TOOL (M.U.T.-III) ."
- Turn the power supply mode of the engine switch to ON.
- Check if DTC is stored.
- Turn the power supply mode of the engine switch to OFF.
Q: Is the DTC stored?
- YES: Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART .
- NO: Go to Step 2.
- STEP 2. Liftgate lock release handle (lock switch) check
Check that the liftgate lock release handle (lock switch) is normal (Refer to INSPECTION < Vehicles without power liftgate > or INSPECTION < Vehicles with power liftgate >).
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 3.
- NO: Replace the liftgate lock release handle.
- STEP 3. Check of short to power supply, short to ground, and open circuit in GTRQ line between the KOS-ECU connector and the liftgate lock release handle connector. NOTE: Before the wiring harness check, check the intermediate connector, and repair if necessary.
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 4.
- NO: Repair the wiring harness.
- STEP 4. KOS communication test
Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III), perform the antenna communication test to check that the outside transmission antenna assembly (liftgate) communicates normally (Refer to ON-VEHICLE SERVICE < KOS-ECU > ).
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 5.
- NO: Perform troubleshooting for the diagnostic trouble code B240C (Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART ).
- STEP 5. Check of the troubles
Operate the liftgate lock release handle (lock switch) to check that the liftgate can be locked.
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Intermittent malfunction is suspected (Refer to HOW TO DEAL WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTION ).
- NO: Replace KOS-ECU and register the ID codes (Refer to ON-VEHICLE SERVICE < KOS-ECU > ).
