Inspection Procedure 13: Keyless entry hazard answerback function or the dome light answerback function does not work normally: Diagnosis

  1. STEP 1. Check the hazard warning light 

    Check that the hazard warning light illuminate normally.

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    1. YES:  Go to Step 2.
    2. NO:  Refer to THE HAZARD WARNING LIGHTS DO NOT ILLUMINATE ."
  2. STEP 2. Check the dome lights operation 

    Check that the dome lights illuminate normally.

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    1. YES:  Go to Step 3.
    2. NO:  Refer to INSPECTION PROCEDURE 1: THE FRONT DOME LIGHT DOES NOT ILLUMINATE NORMALLY .
  3. STEP 3. Check the keyless entry system operation 

    Check that the keyless entry system operation normally.

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    1. YES:  Go to Step 4.
    2. NO:  Refer to Inspection Procedure 11: Keyless entry function does not work  ."
  4. STEP 4. Check the customization 

    Check that any one of the followings other than "Lock: 0, Unlock: 0" is set for "Hazard answerback" with a customization function.

    • Lock: 1, Unlock: 2
    • Lock: 1, Unlock: 0
    • Lock: 0, Unlock: 2
    • Lock: 2, Unlock: 1
    • Lock: 0, Unlock: 1
    • Lock: 2, Unlock: 0
      NOTE: If "Lock: 0" or "Unlock: 0" is selected, no answerback function is performed on locking or unlocking.

    Q: Is it set to other than "Lock: 0, Unlock: 0"? 

    1. YES:  Go to Step 5.
    2. NO:  Set "Hazard answerback" to any one other than "Lock: 0, Unlock: 0" with a customization function (Refer to CUSTOMIZATION FUNCTION  ).
  5. STEP 5. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III), read the diagnostic trouble code. 

    Check if any DTC is stored in the KOS-ECU.

    CAUTION: To prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-III), always turn the power supply mode of the engine switch to the OFF position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-III).
    1. Connect scan tool (M.U.T.-III). Refer to "HOW TO CONNECT SCAN TOOL (M.U.T.-III)  ."
    2. Turn the power supply mode of the engine switch to ON.
    3. Check if DTC is stored.
    4. Turn the power supply mode of the engine switch to OFF.

    Q: Is the DTC stored? 

    1. YES:  Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART  .
    2. NO:  Go to Step 6.
  6. STEP 6. Check of the troubles 

    Check that the hazard answerback and dome light answerback functions of the keyless entry operate.

    Q: Is the check result normal? 

    1. YES:  Intermittent malfunction is suspected (Refer to HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTION ).
    2. NO:  Replace ETACS-ECU. After the replacement, perform the coding.
