INSPECTION PROCEDURE B-1: The Liftgate Lock Release Handle Signal Is Not Received: Diagnosis

- STEP 1. liftgate lock release handle check.
Check that the liftgate lock release handle is normal (Refer to INSTALLATION SERVICE POINTS < Vehicles without power liftgate >, >> D << STRIKER INSTALLATION < Vehicles with power liftgate >).
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 2.
- NO: Replace the liftgate lock release handle.
- STEP 2. Resistance measurement at liftgate lock release handle connector (ground line terminal).
- Disconnect the connector, and measure at the wiring harness side.
- Measure the resistance between the liftgate lock release handle connector (ground line terminal) and body ground.
OK: Continuity exists (2 or less)
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 4.
- NO: Go to Step 3.
- STEP 3. Check of open circuit in ground line between liftgate lock release handle connector and body ground.
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Intermittent malfunction (Refer to HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTION ).
- NO: Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
- STEP 4. Check of open circuit in GTOP line between ETACS-ECU connector and liftgate lock release handle connector.
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 5.
- NO: Repair the connector(s) or wiring harness.
- STEP 5. Using scan tool (M.U.T.-III), check data list.
Check the signals related to the liftgate lock release handle operation.
CAUTION: To prevent damage to scan tool (M.U.T.-III), always turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position before connecting or disconnecting scan tool (M.U.T.-III).- Connect scan tool (M.U.T.-III). Refer to GROUP 42B, KEYLESS OPERATION SYSTEM (KOS) - WITH DIAGNOSTICS .
- Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
- Check the data list of the ETACS.
- Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.
OK: Normal condition is displayed.
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Intermittent malfunction (Refer to HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTION ).
- NO: Replace ETACS-ECU.
