Inspection Procedure 12: Delayed finishing wipe function does not work normally: Diagnosis

- STEP 1. Check the ETACS-ECU customization function.
Use the ETACS-ECU customization function to check that the "front wiper washer" is set to "On with delayed finishing wipe function."
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 2.
- NO: Use the ETACS-ECU customization function to set the "front wiper washer" to "On with delayed finishing wipe function." (Refer to ON-VEHICLE SERVICE .)
- STEP 2. Use the scan tool MB991958 to check if an ETACS-related diagnostic trouble code is stored.
Connect the scan tool. Refer to "HOW TO CONNECT THE SCAN TOOL (M.U.T.-III) ."
Q: Is the diagnostic trouble code stored?
- YES: Diagnose the ETACS-ECU. Refer to "DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART ."
- NO: Go to Step 3.
- STEP 3. Windshield wiper operation check
Check that the windshield wipers work normally.
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 4.
- NO: Refer to TROUBLE SYMPTOM CHART .
- STEP 4. Windshield washer operation check
Check that the windshield washers work normally.
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Go to Step 5.
- NO: Refer to INSPECTION PROCEDURE 10 "WINDSHIELD WASHERS DO NOT WORK NORMALLY ."
- STEP 5. Retest the system
Check that the delayed finishing wipe function works normally.
Q: Is the check result normal?
- YES: Intermittent malfunction. (Refer to HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTION .)
- NO: Replace the ETACS-ECU.
