DTC B1143 ESL status fail: Diagnosis

- STEP 1. After performing the locking and unlocking operations of the electric steering lock, recheck the diagnostic trouble code.
- Erase the DTC.
- Turn the power supply mode of the engine switch from OFF to ON.
- Check if DTC is stored.
- Turn the power supply mode of the engine switch from ON to OFF.
Q: Is the DTC stored?
- YES: Replace the electric steering lock and register the VIN (Refer to REGISTRATION WHEN REPLACING OSS-ECU ). Then go to Step 2.
- NO: Go to Step 2.
- STEP 2. Check whether the diagnostic trouble code is stored again.
- Erase the DTC.
- Turn the power supply mode of the engine switch from OFF to ON.
- Check if DTC is stored.
- Turn the power supply mode of the engine switch from ON to OFF.
Q: Is the DTC stored?
- YES: Replace the OSS-ECU and register the VIN (Refer to REGISTRATION WHEN REPLACING OSS-ECU ).
- NO: Intermittent malfunction is suspected (Refer to HOW TO COPE WITH INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTION ).
